Nature

Summer

by Tai Fu-ku 12th–13th century AD

Translated by Herbert A. Giles (1898) · From Chinese Poetry in English Verse (1898)

Nature

When ducklings seek the puddles, mostly dry,
In the hot plum-time,,with its changeful sky,
'Tis then in shady arbour we carouse,
And strip the golden loquat from the boughs.
