To the Noble Gentleman, and my much honoured friend, Robert Caluert Esquire, of Mount Caluert in Ireland
From The Nipping and Snipping of Abuses (1614)
Had I as many seu'rall mouthes as fame,
I could not euer honour thy good Name:
Did Maroe's Muse my weake inuention mooue,
I should want Art t' expresse ingaged loue.
Yet hope perswades me, as these lines you reed
You'le take my good endeauour for a deed:
Although I know to write I am vnfit
In Words, in Muse, in Methode, and in Wit.
