To his aproued good friend Mr. Robert Branthwayt
From The Sculler (1612)
Social Commentaries
Deere friend to thee I owe a countles debt,
Which though I euer pay, will nere be payd:
Tis not base coyne, subiect to cankers fret,
If so, in time my debt would be defrayd.
But this my debt, I would haue all men knowe,
Is loue: the more I pay, the more I owe.
