Nature

One Consciousness

by Albert D. Watson 1859–1926

From The Oxford Book of Canadian Verse (1913)

Nature

One consciousness is all that is or evermore can be :
Are not the billows of the world one all-embracing sea ?
With The Eternal I am one, and only thus am free.
I rise superior to fate ; I challenge fear, I forfeit ease.
I stand heroic and elate, and strong amid th' eternities !
