Death & Dying

On the Death of Alexander White

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Hymns and Sacred Poems (1749) · Osborn ed., vol. 5 (1869)

Death & Dying

i O WHAT a soul-transporting sight
Mine eyes to-day have seen,
A spectacle of strange delight
To angels, and to men!
Nor human language can express,
Nor tongue of angels paint
The vast mysterious happiness
Of a departing saint!
