Hymns on the Trinity, 62

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

Religion

The Holy Ghost in part we know,
For with us He resides,
Our whole of good to Him we owe
Whom by His grace He guides:
He doth our virtuous thoughts inspire,
The evil He averts,
And every seed of good desire
He planted in our hearts.

He whom the world cannot receive,
But fight against His power,
Will come, we steadfastly believe,
In His appointed hour:
He now the future grace reveals,
Bespeaks His mean abode;
And in us when the Spirit dwells,
We all are fill'd with God.
