Hymns on the Trinity, 94

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Hymns on the Trinity (1767) · Osborn ed., vol. 7 (1870)

Religion

There is a God we truly call
Three persons equally Divine,
Who in the earth are judging all,
Who doth to each his doom assign.
Vengeance to those that slight His grace,
Reward to those that seek His face.

The Father sits and judges right,
The Judge of all is Christ His Son,
The Spirit of resistless might
Casts earthly powers and kingdoms down.
When as a judging Spirit He comes,
And breathes, and Antichrist consumes.
