Genesis 3:7: The eyes of them both were opened

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 9 (1870)

Religion

Open'd are their eyes to see
Evil before unknown.
Forfeited felicity.
And rule and glory gone:
Now they see their shameful case,
And conscious of their guilty load.
Fly aghast before the face
Of an offended God.
