Deuteronomy 1:28: Our brethren, of their foes afraid

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 9 (1870)

Religion

Our brethren, of their foes afraid,
Have us by their report dismay'd;
And listening to their lie,
That " sin can never be brought down,"
Faint-hearted slaves, we must sin on,
Till in despair we die.
