Ruth 1:21: Went out full of youthful hope

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 9 (1870)

Religion

Went out full of youthful hope,
But empty I return,
My sanguine confidence give up,
My blasted comforts mourn:
A few more days of sad distress
I travel towards a tomb;
But trust to reach in final peace
Mine everlasting home.
