1 Samuel 15:22: Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice
From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 9 (1870)

How.shall we offer to the skies
That better, more, than sacrifice?
Jesus, with heavenly wisdom bless,
And teach us how Thyself to please:
O work in me to will and do;
Spiritual adoration true
In perfect love I then shall pay,
And Thee with all my heart obey.
