2 Kings 6:6: Deep sunk in nature's base desire

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 9 (1870)

Religion

Deep sunk in nature's base desire,
The sinful mud, the worldly mire,
What but the casting in of grace
This stony, iron heart, can raise,
To heavenly turn my earthly love,
And lift my soul to things above?
