Isaiah 11:8: Have we not securely play'd

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 9 (1870)

Religion

Have we not securely play'd
In the abodes of death.
By our innocence betray'd
Into the dragons' teeth?
Yet Thou didst from every snare
Preserve the children- of Thy grace,
That Thy sucklings might declare
Our constant Saviour's praise.
