Isaiah 54:15, 16: The world shall impotently rage

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

Religion

The world shall impotently rage,
Without My leave their powers engage
To' oppress My church as heretofore:
But blasted by My glorious eyes,
Whoe'er against My favourites rise,
Shall fall at last, to rise no more:

Who forge the instruments of death.
From Me they first receive their breath;
I made the smith that blows the fire;
The waster at My beck destroys;
And when My wrath no more employs,
I burn the weapons of Mine ire.
