Jeremiah 31:19: Turn'd by Thy Son's victorious blood

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

Religion

Turn'd by Thy Son's victorious blood,
Father, I now at last repent.
Instructed by Thy mercy's rod
With shame accept my punishment;
Smiting on this unworthy breast
To lift mine eyes I scarcely dare.
Myself I loathe, abhor, detest.
And faint my youth's reproach to bear.
