Jeremiah 32:40: That covenant of eternal grace
From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 10 (1871)
That covenant of eternal grace
When wilt Thou make with me?
My heart I open to embrace
The God of purity:
Now let me feel Thy Spirit brought in.
And when in me Thou art,
Feel it impossible to sin.
Impossible to part.
In proof, Thou wilt not cease to love.
But still Thy servant bless.
This inbred stumbling-block remove
By perfect holiness:
I know the covenant is sure,
Seal'd with Thy Spirit's seal,
And in me, when my heart is pure,
Thou wilt for ever dwell.
