Matthew 7: Oft have I pray'd Thee to remove

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 10 (1871)

Religion

Oft have I pray'd Thee to remove
The sin through which I long have grieved;
Oft have I ask'd Thy precious love.
Nor yet the heavenly gift received:
But still in weariness and pain
I seem to plead Thy truth in vain.
