Matthew 20:28: And to give His life a ransom for many

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 10 (1871)

Religion

As many as in Adam fell,
And wander'd from salvation wide,
To ransom from sin, death, and hell,
For them the Second Adam died
Even those unhappy souls He bought
Who their redeeming Lord deny,
Will not by Him to life be brought
But self-destroy'd resolve to die.
