Matthew 24:14: This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached, &c

Good news of sin forgiven.
Of justice, joy, and peace.
The kingdom of an inward heaven,
With everlasting bliss.
This every soul may prove
Who hears the gospel call.
Which testifies the Father's love
That gave His Son to all.

But O, what numbers turn
The blessing into bane,
The heavenly testimony scorn,
And Christ Himself disdain!
Through wilful malice blind,
The life is death to them,
The word to save their souls design'd
Serves only to condemn.
