Ye bold to' explain, describe, define
The progress of the life Divine,
Your learned ignorance allow,
And own it grows ye know not how!

No mortal eye the manner sees.
The imperceptible degrees,
By which our Lord conducts His plan,
And brings us to a perfect man.
