Mark 14:61: But He held His peace

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 11 (1871)

Religion

An advocate the sinner needs,
And Christ the just for us declares,
Our desperate cause by silence pleads.
Our long-lost innocence repairs,
Refusing to defend His own,
He clears us at His Father's throne.
