Luke 3:16: He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost
From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 11 (1871)
Religion
Holy, hallowing Spirit, come.
Cleanse my life's impurity,
All my nature's filth consume,
Make an end of sin in me,
Spread the pure baptismal flame.
Plunge me deep in Jesus' name.
Jesus, Thou that Spirit art,
Thou the sinner dost baptize,
Purify by faith my heart,
Bid the fire of love arise,
Consecrate the human shrine.
Fill the earthly house Divine.
