In the church whoe'er aspire
To the first distinguish'd i)lace,
They superior toils desire.
Deeper draughts of patient grace,
Ask to suffer in His cause.
Ask to die on Jesu's cross.

Wholly sacrificed to God,
Wholly to His people given,
Day and night for souls employ'd,
Servants to the heirs of heaven,
Active as the spirits above.
All humility and love.
