Religion

The saint indeed, the humble man
Such as he is delights to' appear,
In words distfnct, and strong, and plain
Disowns his Saviour's character.
Renounces man's misplaced esteem
As what belongs to God, not him.

He doth not in their error leave
The men who fooHshly extol,
Too highly of his grace conceive,
Him holy, pure, or perfect call;
But all their fond conceits removes.
And still the lowest place he loves.
