John 2:16: Take these things hence

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 11 (1871)

Religion

Creatures required for sacrifice,
Are careless crowds and worldly priests
Who now provoke Thy glorious eyes.
Profane the temple of the Lord,
And sell the prayer, the psalm, the word.
