John 8: O The vanity of man

Religion

O The vanity of man!
Fast bound in misery,
Gall'd with Satan's iron chain.
He boasts that he is free;
Still enthrall'd in heart and mind.
He needs not be by Christ restored,
Bold and ignorant and blind
Rejects his pardoning Lord.

Jesus full of truth and grace,
To me my bondage show,
That I gladly may embrace
The gift Thou wouldst bestow,
Find redemption in Thy blood,
The joy of Thy disciples prove,
Live with all the sons of God
The life of perfect love.
