John 9:17: Jesus' upright confessor

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 11 (1871)

Religion

Jesus' upright confessor
Discharging what he owes,
Speaks without reserve or fear
The truth before its foes;
Vindicates the instrument
Who open'd a blind shiner'' s eyes,
Witnesses the Prophet sent,
His Saviour from the skies.
