Hadst Thou, O Lord, been always here.
My soul through sin had never died;
But now in my behalf appear.
My Spokesman at Thy Father's side:
He cannot turn away from Thee,
Thou must prevail I surely know;
Whate'er Thou dost request for me
He will for Thy dear sake bestow.
