Acts 17:18: Men of philosophic pride

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 12 (1872)

Religion

Men of philosophic pride,
Fond of themselves alone,
Blindly censure and deride
The things they have not known;
Wisdom in a mystery
To Greeks it always folly was,
God expiring on a tree
To save us by His cross!
