Acts 19:25: The love which worldly men pretend

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 12 (1872)

The love which worldly men pretend
To things Divine will always end
Where it at first begun:
Gain is their only godliness,
In all their actions they confess
They love themselves alone.
