Slander'd in the cause of Jesus,
When we suffer for His name,
Jesus then delights to bless us,
Jesus dignifies our shame,
Then the Comforter is given,
Earnest of our glorious rest,
Seals the raptured heirs of heaven,
Fills His temple in our breast.
