Love
The wandering gadlyng in the sommer tyde
From The Poems of Sir Thomas Wiat (ed. A. K. Foxwell, 1913)
Love
The wandering gadlyng in the sommer tyde,
That fyndes the Adder with his recheles fote,
Startes not dismayd so soudenly a side
As Jalous dispite did, tho there war no bote,
When that he sawe me sitting by her side.
That of my hellh is very croppe and rote.
It pleased me then to have so fair a grace.
To styng that hert, that would have my place.
