Albrecht von Johannsdorf

Albrecht von Johannsdorf, a Bavarian ministerial documented between 1185 and 1209, wrote both love songs and crusading songs that weigh service to a lady against service to God.

Three of his songs appear here in Frank C. Nicholson’s translation, Old German Love Songs (1907), made from the minnesingers of the twelfth to fourteenth centuries.
