William Alexander

1824–1911

William Alexander (1824–1911) was an Irish cleric of the Church of Ireland, later Archbishop of Armagh, and the husband of Cecil Frances Alexander.

The poems here are taken from Alfred H. Miles (ed.), The Poets and the Poetry of the Century (London: Hutchinson, 1891–1897), vol. 10, from the Internet Archive scans of that edition. Spelling is that of the anthology; Miles's biographical essay and extracts from longer poems are omitted, and only poems that could be read cleanly from the scan are included.
