'Amir ibn at-Tufail

6th century

'Amir ibn at-Tufail, nephew of Mu'awiyah ibn Malik, was the famous cavalier and contemporary of the Prophet who was chief of the tribe of 'Amir ibn Sa'sa'ah. Lyall edited his Diwan in 1913.

Ode CVI is No. XI of the Diwan; the second piece is a rejoinder to Salamah ibn al-Khurshub.
