Alexander Anderson

Alexander Anderson (1845–1909), known by his pen name “Surfaceman”, was a Scottish poet born at Kirkconnel in Dumfriesshire. He worked as a railway labourer and later in the library of Edinburgh University.

His books include Songs of Labour (1873), The Two Angels and Other Poems (1875), Songs of the Rail (1877) and Ballads and Sonnets (1879).
