The Apostolic Fathers

c. 90–150 AD

"The Apostolic Fathers" is the collective name given to the earliest Christian writings after the New Testament, composed in Greek between roughly 90 and 150 AD. The collection includes letters, sermons and church manuals attributed to or associated with the generation that followed the apostles.

The Didache, or Teaching of the Twelve Apostles, is an anonymous church manual of the late first or early second century. It was lost for centuries and rediscovered in 1873 in a manuscript in Constantinople; it is among the oldest surviving descriptions of Christian worship and community life.
