Bernger von Horheim

fl. c. 1175–1195

Bernger von Horheim, a knight of south-west Germany who flourished in the later twelfth century, is best known for a playful “lying song” of exaggerated boasts.

One of his songs appears here in Frank C. Nicholson’s translation, Old German Love Songs (1907), made from the minnesingers of the twelfth to fourteenth centuries.
