William Blacker

1777–1855

William Blacker (1777–1855) was a lieutenant-colonel born at Carrickblacker, County Armagh, where he also died. His Orange ballad "Oliver's Advice" became almost a war-song; his poems were never collected in his lifetime.

The poems here are taken from H. Halliday Sparling's anthology Irish Minstrelsy (London: Walter Scott, 1888).
