Dion Boucicault

c. 1820–1890

Dion Boucicault (c. 1820–1890) was a Dublin-born dramatist and actor, author of London Assurance (1841) and The Colleen Bawn, who spent much of his later life in the United States. His version of "The Wearing of the Green" is a rewriting of the older street ballad.

The poems here are taken from H. Halliday Sparling's anthology Irish Minstrelsy (London: Walter Scott, 1888).
