Edward Ernest Bowen

Edward Ernest Bowen (1836–1901) was an English schoolmaster, for more than forty years a master at Harrow School. He wrote the words of a number of Harrow school songs, among them "Forty Years On" (1872).

His occasional verse, much of it on school and religious themes, was printed in magazines and anthologies; "Shemuel," a poem on the first Christmas night, appears in The Home Book of Verse (1912).
