Chan Fang-shēng

4th century AD

Chan Fang-shēng lived in the fourth century AD. His poem “Sailing Homeward” is a list of landscape features whose steadiness heals the pain of a traveller’s heart.

The poems here are Arthur Waley’s version in A Hundred and Seventy Chinese Poems (1918), given with the poet’s name as spelled in those books.
