fl. c. 1250–1290

Der Wilde Alexander was a wandering poet of the later thirteenth century, known for songs and moral verse preserved in the Codex Manesse.

Two of his songs appear here in Frank C. Nicholson’s translation, Old German Love Songs (1907), made from the minnesingers of the twelfth to fourteenth centuries.
