Ernest Dowson

1867–1900

Ernest Dowson (1867–1900) was an English poet of the 1890s Decadent movement, associated with the Rhymers' Club, who died of tuberculosis and drink at thirty-two.

His hallmark is a wistful, musical melancholy, most famous in the refrain "I have been faithful to thee, Cynara! in my fashion," from his poem Non Sum Qualis Eram.
