Augusta Theodosia Drane

1823–1894

Augusta Theodosia Drane (1823–1894) was an English Catholic nun of the Dominican order, known as a poet and theologian as well as a writer of religious biography.

The two poems here are meditations that take their epigraphs from St John of the Cross. The poems printed here are those given in The Oxford Book of English Mystical Verse (1917), edited by D. H. S. Nicholson and A. H. E. Lee; the text is taken from that anthology.
