Eben Fardd

1802–1863

Eben Fardd (Ebenezer Thomas) was a Welsh schoolmaster and poet of Clynnog Fawr in Caernarfonshire, whose ode "Dinistr Jerusalem" ("The Destruction of Jerusalem") was among the most widely read Welsh poems of the nineteenth century.

Two extracts from it are given in English verse by Alfred Perceval Graves in A Celtic Psaltery (1917).

  1. The Destruction of Jerusalem: Rachel Mourning
  2. The Destruction of Jerusalem: The Burning Temple
