Thomas Furlong

1794–1827

Thomas Furlong (1794–1827), born near Ferns, County Wexford, was a poet and a friend and supporter of Daniel O'Connell. He is now remembered chiefly as a translator of Irish poems into English verse.

The poems here are taken from H. Halliday Sparling's anthology Irish Minstrelsy (London: Walter Scott, 1888).
