Ludwig Andreas Gotter

Ludwig Andreas Gotter (1661–1735) was a German hymn-writer whose “Sei hochgelobt, barmherziger Gott” appears in the Herrnhuth Collection and in Knapp’s Evangelischer Liederschatz (Osborn’s scanned text prints his name as “Cotter”).

The single piece here is John Wesley’s English translation, printed in Hymns and Sacred Poems (1740); Osborn’s footnote gives the German as a comparison.
