Alexander Balloch Grosart

1827–1899

Alexander Balloch Grosart (1827–1899) was a Scottish clergyman and literary editor, remembered for reprinting much rare Elizabethan literature; the anthology prints his birth year as 1835.

The poems here are taken from Alfred H. Miles (ed.), The Poets and the Poetry of the Century (London: Hutchinson, 1891–1897), vol. 10, from the Internet Archive scans of that edition. Spelling is that of the anthology; Miles's biographical essay and extracts from longer poems are omitted, and only poems that could be read cleanly from the scan are included.
