John Hall

1627–1656

John Hall of Durham was educated at Cambridge, studied law, and published a volume of poems while still young. Gilfillan records that he was born at Durham in 1627 and died in 1656, in his twenty-ninth year.

Gilfillan quotes one poem of his, The Morning Star, in the memoir of Joseph Hall, whom he is careful to distinguish from the poet.

  1. The Morning Star
  2. The Call
  3. An Epicurean Ode
  4. A Pastorall Hymne
  5. On an Houre-glasse
